LAKES/RIVER

We are located right across the Highway from McPhee Reservoir and boat ramp where several bass fishing competitions happen each year. It's a great lake to explore by paddle board, kayak, or motor boat. Watercraft rental is available in the town of Dolores.  Come enjoy the Dolores River during Escalante Days, or a quiet weekend that you can have it practically all to yourself,  especially early morning for some fly-fishing. Also nearby is Narraguinnep, Groundhog, and lots of high mountain streams and lakes.

WINERIES/BREW PUBS

After a hike at Sand Canyon, stop in at Sutcliffe Vineyard for a taste in a timelessly beautiful setting, or at Guy Drew Vineyards on your way back out of the canyon. If Microbrews are your thing, The Dolores River Brewery is just a few miles from the park and offers up seasonal delights paired with salads, sandwiches and wood-fired pizzas.  The Main Street Brewery is located in Cortez with a full American menu and bar, and then there's the Mancos Brewery and Mancos Distillery.  Make it a loop!

ARCHAEOLOGY

The Canyon of the Ancients Heritage Center is right around the bend as well as several great hikes to spot and explore the area's ancient ruins.  From almost every spot at The Views you can see a panorama of the beautiful Mesa Verde which should definitely be on your list to check out while you're visiting. There's a whole archaeology center - Crow Canyon, and lots to explore at Hovenweep, Canyon of the Ancients and Lowry Pueblo.

GOLFING
MOUNTAIN BIKING

There is truly some incredible mountain biking in the area.  Something for everyone!  Phil's World hosts several incredible events throughout the year that draws athletes from all over the country.  And yet, there's also a "Trust Loop" for those just getting started.  Boggy Draw has a great system of loops for bikers of all ages/abilities and is located in a shadier/forest location.  And yet still close by!  Then there's Sage Hen which is just across the way that skirts McPhee Reservoir and loads of high mountain rides we'd love to tell you about.  Bring your road bike too, lots of great rides!!

HIKING

Head down to McElmo Canyon for a hike at Sand Canyon and explore some ruins while you're there.  For a completely opposite experience head up into the San Juans to explore some incredible high mountain lakes and waterfalls.  You'll be blown away by the wildflowers (seasonal) and majestic views.  Explore the ruins of a different cultures from the distant native culture -  to the not too distant mining culture.

ROAD TRIPS

Beautiful drive to Telluride (70m) where you can ride the free gondola and check out the Town of Telluride or the ski resort of Mountain Village (with lots to do during the summer!!).  Head to the Old West town of Durango (50m) to ride the Narrow Gauge Railroad, hit the museum or shop and enjoy some great restaurants. Or heck, take the whole Million Dollar Highway/San Juan Skyway tour!  The Views is located in the Four Corners of Colorado, so Moab, UT is only 100 miles and amazing Lake Powell is 160m!  We can truly be YOUR ADVENTURE HEADQUARTERS!

The Conquistador Golf Course is an 18 hole public course that is a USGA sanctioned, par 72, 18 hole course.  It's like stepping into a whole new world, except that you can still see panoramic views of the Mesa and Mountains you've come to love from The Views!
